AUSWEB's Windows VPS Hosting Solutions are running Windows Server 2003 Enterprise x64 Edition, hosted on high-performance DELL servers.
As AUSWEB Windows VPS solutions are unmanaged services, for streamlined management of your VPS we highly recommend choosing the "Plesk 100 Domain License" as your Web Hosting Control Panel option. Due to the RAM requirements of Plesk, this is only available our Windows VPS Premium and Enterprise plans for $29.50 per month.
During sign-up for your AUSWEB Windows VPS plan, you can choose Configurable Options such as MS SQL Express 2005 (automatically included with Plesk). However, if choosing Plesk, the default "Plesk 100 Domain license" does not enable MS SQL Support from your Plesk control panel. To enable Plesk MS SQL support you must upgrade your license by purchasing the "Plesk Power Pack" addon.
With full administrative accses to your Windows VPS, you can manage MS SQL any way you choose. For example with MS SQL Server Management Studio Express or your preferred database application. However, if you wish to enable the MS SQL feature from your Plesk control panel, as above you must upgrade your Plesk license by purchasing the "Plesk Power Pack" addon for a one-time fee of $199.
Please note, this can only be ordered via your AUSWEB Client Area after sign-up, under Product Addons for your VPS service.
The Plesk Power Pack Addon, enables management of the following features in your Plesk control panel:
MS SQL Database Support
SpamAssassin
Application Vault

After your AUSWEB Windows VPS Plan is ordered and activated, you can order the Plesk Power Pack addon by logging into your AUSWEB Client Area:
1) Once logged in, select the "My Services" button
2) In the Product/Service list select the arrow icon to the right of your Windows VPS Hosting package.
3) Scroll down the page and under "Account Addons" select the link "Click to view available addons".
4) On the following page, scroll down until you see "Plesk Power Pack Addon - $199 one-time fee", and then follow the ordering and payment process.
Please note that the license upgrade process is handled externally by Parallels / Plesk. We advise customers that license upgrades are normally completed within 48 hours. However, there can be delays associated with this process.
