Creating A Simple Reflection Effect Using Fireworks CS3

Another effect that is very easy to create using Fireworks CS3 is the classic "reflection". This can be used to add a nice finishing touch to ball sort of objects including text.

To create a simple "reflection effect, perform the following:

Open a new file and either import a picture or create an object. The object can be text but once you have created the text you must convert it to paths before you continue. This can be done by selecting the text, going to the "text" menu and the selecting the"convert to paths option.

Now you have your object, duplicate it by performing copy/paste.

Select one of the objects, right click on it and select "Transform -> Flip Vertical".

Now move the flipped object so it is positioned directly under the main object.

Go to the "Commands" menu and select "Creative -> Fade Image".

Choose the vertical fade option to create a fade that is solid at the top and transparent at the bottom.

Adjust the fade mask's positioning to your liking and then change the overall transparency of the faded object to around 30%.

There you have it, a simple fade effect. You could also add perspective to the object by selecting both images, right clicking, and then select "Flatten Selection". Once flattened use the skew tool to change its shape.
