Tag Editing

Dreamweaver has a built-in Tag Editor. This is incredibly useful for editing tags on the fly. The editor can be accessed while working in WYSIWYG mode either by selecting the elements on the screen, or by selecting from the tags in the lower left corner.

Select an object on your page. Right click on that object and select Edit Tag from the submenu.

This will display the tag in an editable box.

You can code directly in this box to edit the selected tag only. If you wish to add tags, you must do so with the HTML Source Window or with your external editor. Once you are finished simply click on another element on the page. The tag editor will disappear and any changes will be updated in on the page.

In addition to editing tags via the context menu, you can also remove them. This is done by clicking on Remove Tag.

You can also edit tags by selecting them from the lower left corner of your screen.

This list of tags reflects the cursor positioning within the page. These are the parent tags for where the cursor resides at any given moment. If the cursor is moved, the tag list will change. You can select a tag by clicking on it once. This will select the entire contents of that tag. To edit the tag, access the context menu and select Edit Tag. This will launch the tag editor and changes can be made.

You can also remove, set the class or set the ID from the tag list. The latter two options are only relevant if Styles are used in the document.
