You may have some questions about what exactly a Virtual Private Server is, and how it can benefit your business whilst reducing costs at the same time. Here is a tutorial which introduces you to Ausweb's Virtuozzo VPS Hosting solution.
The following article explains what the advantages of using a VPS Server are and how you can benefit from the latest in hosting technology, Powered by Virtuozzo.
How does VPS Hosting work?
Virtual servers don't actually have their own dedicated hardware. Rather, they share hardware with other virtual servers, each server being allocated a certain amount physical resources. The virtual servers operate within dynamic "containers" on the host machine, completely seperated from each other virtually. The Virtuozzo Layer within the host machine allocates CPU, RAM, Hard disk and network access to each container which simulates a true dedicated hosting environment.
This segregation allows each container to have completely seperate operating systems, installations and of course, users - without interferring with each other. Because the server is completely virtual, it creates a number of advantages which you wouldn't normally find, even in dedicated hosting environments.

What are the advantages in using Virtuozzo VPS Hosting?
A large number of the advantages go un-noticed from a clients perspective, due to everything appearing completely like a dedicated server. These include: extremly quick install and setup times, web based monitoring of each VPS containers system stats, abillity to migrate containers between hardware nodes and much more.
One of the first advantages you will notice from a customer's perspective is the price. Virtual Private Servers allow you to pay a fraction of the cost of a typical colocated server in order to receive the same functionallity and stabillity.
In the case of a reboot, server boot-up times are again, a fraction of what they would normally be with a dedicated server. There is no lengthy hardware checks when booting up as all hardware is virtual and loaded instantaniously. All of this can be controlled via the Virtuozzo web-based interface.
The Virtuozzo interface allows you to control things like backups and reboots without needing physical access to the server or network. With the click of a button, your virtual container is shut down and rebooted within the time it would normally take to get through a normal BIOS check.
